In addition to the Main Central Library, a Departmental Library is functioning in the Department for the benefit of staff members and students of the Department. The library functions from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm.
General Rules
- The students are required to abide by the rules and regulations of the library and also make use of the library regularly.
- Reference books cannot be taken out of the library under any circumstances
- Absolute silence must be maintained inside the library during time of reading, referring, taking and returning of book
- Students are not allowed to bring their textbooks and other reference books inside the Library.
- Borrowers should not pass on or give book obtained from the college library to others. No marking, under lining or any other damage to the book is allowed
- Students are required to examine the book at the time of borrowing and report to the librarian, if there is any damage or missing of pages or pictures etc.,
- Books borrowed by a student must not be returned through another student
Rules for the Civil Engineering Department library
The following rules, are laid down for the maintenance, improvement and utilization of Department library in the interest of the readers concerned:
- The departmental library will remain under the care and responsibility of the Head of the Department for its organization and administration with the help of other staffs of the Department.
- In case of demand for longer hours or change of library hours, approval of the Head of the Department is to be obtained.
- Membership of a departmental library will be confined to the teachers and regular students of that department only.
- Teachers, research scholars, and students of other departments may be allowed the reading facilities on special permission of the Head of the Department/ Library-in-charge.
- Normally, not more than two volumes at a time will be allowed to be used by a student in the reading room and such volumes are to be returned in course of the day.
- Terms and conditions of reading facilities of all other categories of members will be the same as laid down in case of such members in the Central Library.
- If books borrowed by persons be not returned in spite of reminders, the matter is to be reported to the HOD for such action as may be considered necessary for the purpose.
- Students and staffs found to be defaulters in respect of returning library books more than twice in course of two consecutive months or those who will not return books after a third reminder, may be denied the privileges and facilities of the departmental library, both reading and lending.
- Library books lost by the borrowers be replaced by them with new copies. If copies are not available in the market the current price of the books not returned or double the original price whichever is higher is to be paid by the borrower concerned.
- No text book will be issued out except on special permission of the Head of the Department/ Library-in-charge to anyone besides teachers,research scholars, and students who have been allowed borrowing facilities.
- Publications such as conventional reference books, rare books and books known to have gone out-of-print, periodicals, report, etc., books of special collections and books marked as “not to be removed” will not to be issued out except under special circumstances only on written permission of the Head of the Department/ Library- in- charge.
