The Department of Electronics and communication engineering has always been a Trend Setter of this Institution. Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another. Commemorating the quote of a famous American civil rights activist, “A word as to the education of the heart, we don’t believe that this can be imparted through books, it can only be imparted through the loving touch of the teacher”, ECSA was proposed with the objective to organize various activities that consists of drawing the goodness and best out of our own students under the guidance of the well trained faculty members of the department. The Association was inaugurated on 10th September 2004 by Mr. Mohandas Mukundan, the then chief GM of OEN India Ltd. The association hands several area of interest under Electronics & Communication such as Electronic Design Automation, Electronics Innovation, Electronics debate & Electronics Communication.
ECE Association is an entity of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of SJCET. The electronics students' association was proposed with the objective to organize various activities that contributes to the academic and professional development of students along with leadership qualities, teamwork and other essential employability skills. The association conducts events like workshops, career development programmes and talks from eminent persons from industry to bridge the gap between the industry and academics.
Inauguration of ECSA activities of the academic year 2013-2014 was inaugurated on 10th of Oct 2013.Dr.Suresh Nair ,President –Research& Development, SFO Technologies, NEST was the Chief Guest of the function.·
The department of ECE won ‘THE BEST DEPARTMENT AWARD’ for Asthra 2014 - A National Level Techno-Managerial Fest organized by St. Joseph's College of Engineering and Technology,Palai on March 7,8 2014.As part of the college tech fest ASTRA 2014, ECSA organized a technical fest THE VAULT on 7th of March 2014
The ‘Advaya 12’ Tech Fest 2012 was conducted from 6th October 2012 in which students from 13 different colleges participated in various contest.
A MATLAB training program was organized for final year students on 2nd and 3rd of January 2011 which was taken up by Mr. Sanjeev Koopakadi, ITIE Solutions, Bangalore. A PCB Design training was conducted from 21st to 26th February 2011 for 3rd year students by EFY Tech Center, Bangalore. The ‘Advaya 11’ Tech Fest 2011 was conducted from 1st to 3rd October 2011 which was inaugurated by Msgr. Philip Njaralakatt, Chairman, Diocesan Technical Education Trust, Palai & Manager, SJCET as a part of which variety of technical and non-technical events such as Quiz contest, Theme photography, Ashwamedha (Mega Event), Robowar, and Project Presentation were conducted and students from 10 different colleges participated with vigor and zest.
Mr. Kasthuri A. From Stylus Design Studio, Trivandrum hosted a six day workshop on Electronic Product Design for final year students from 7th January 2010. The intra collegiate paper presentation contest was hosted by the department to provide a platform to the students to showcase their engineering ideas on 17th February 2010. The technical fest of the year 2010 was inaugurated by Dr. KSM Panicker, the then Dean Research & Planning, FISAT on 5th October 2010 at which he delivered a talk on ‘Recent Trends in Electronics and Communication’ and as a part of which a quiz contest titled ‘Clever Ace’ was conducted.
The FTD Infocom Pvt. Ltd , Bangalore conducted a two day workshop on Microprocessor, Microcontroller Development tools , MEMS and Nanotechnology from 6th August 2009. Mr. Sreejesh, Asst. Engineer VLSI Design group, DOEACC, Calicut delivered a seminar on VHDL on 19th September 2009. A two day workshop on Robotics was hosted from 25th September 2009 by Dr. Prahlad Vadkkepat, M/S Robhatah Robotics Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru. A refresher course on ORCAD EDA Tool was conducted by Quest Innovative Solutions Pvt. Ltd Kochi on 9th November 2009 with the agenda to provide an overview of Electronic Design Automation techniques. A five day training program was given to the 3rd year students on Electronics product design tool ‘ORCAD’ from 4th Dec 2009 by Quest Innovative Solutions Pvt. Ltd Kochi.
A three day Electronic Product Design training was conducted from 30th Dec 2008 to 1st Jan 2009 by Mr. Mohammed Afsal, M/S Innovators and Innovations, Ernakulam. National Technical Symposium ‘Infusion 09’ was inaugurated on 28th Feb 2009 by Mr. Philip John, the then CEO, Ushus technologies, former vice Chairman of IEEE, Kerala chapter.
A seminar was hosted on ‘Demystifying Wavelets’ on 28th March 2008 by Dr. Ashok Rao, Professor Emeritus, JSS College Mysore. The Technical Fest ‘Infusion 08’ was organised from 17th to 19th April 2008 and was inaugurated by Mr. Siju George, the then DGM, Mobile Services, BSNL. A five day training program on ‘PIC Microcontrollers’ was conducted from 28th April to 2nd May 2008 by M/S E-Smart Satellite and Telecommunications, Kochi.
Mr. Kasthuri A., Stylus Design Studio, Trivandrum and Dr. V. P. Devasia, Principal, College of Engineering, Chengannur presided over the National level Technical symposiums ‘Excogitatus 06’ which was held on 17th and 18th of November 2006 with the agenda to expose budding engineers to the new frontiers of technology.The tech fest included a talk on ‘Product Design’, project exhibition and paper presentation contest ‘Techy Papyruz’. Keynote address was delivered by Mr. Satish Ram, the then DGM, BSNL, Kottayam.
A code debugging contest was conducted as the part of the ECSA activities on 28th January 2005. Mr. Kasthuri A., from Stylus Studio Design, Trivandrum presided over “Projex 05” on 2nd September 2005 which exhibited variety of projects designed by students. Mr. K. N. Premkumar, the then Head of Broadband Network in Kerala, Reliance Infocom Ltd., presided over the technical fest ‘Excogitatus 05’ which was conducted on 3rd September 2005.
