The Civil Engineering department of SJCET has well equipped and well maintained laboratories which provide good facilities for teaching, learning, practicing field testing and research works in civil engineering. The laboratories have been set up to enable students to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice. The survey lab of SJCET is one of the most equipped and well maintained laboratory in Kerala with a total plinth area of 163.82 m2. This lab serves the needs of the civil engineering programs in basic plane surveying and supports the advanced surveying courses as well. The equipment is used in applications that give practical training and provide insight about the topics covered in lecture. At the basic level, topics include compass survey, plane table survey, levelling and theodolite survey. Training is imparted in Total Station Survey as well. The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory is equipped with facilities to carry out many types of tests on soils.
