COMPUTER LABS UNDER CS DEPARTMENT

                Central Computer Centre

The central computer centre is used by all branches for their general purpose computer usage. This centre is connected to all other departments using high speed fiber optics cables. Cat5e UTP cabling is used inside the campus to attain maximum speed in connecting to the different blocks. The computer is serving the campus with its high power servers 6 in numbers.

A Compaq Proliant server is used for storing the college data base produced by using the campus automation package Campus Dimensions. An Acer Altos 300 server is used for hosting an intranet website to staff & students. This site is providing opportunity to get news about college, download staff notes, discussion forums, college calendar, survey, E mail etc. Acer Altos 700 server, IBM server and a Zenith high power server are used for hosting internet facility and for students project works etc. A Linux server is also used for providing usage of open source packages in side the college campus. Microsoft Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) is supporting the college in getting latest packages developed by Microsoft to be available in the campus within one month of its release.

                       Computer Hardware and Networking Lab

Every student who is an engineering graduate in Computer Science should have some practical experience with the hardware components of the personal computer or the laptops. Assembling and trouble shooting a computer system or a laptop is a must for a Computer student because it is becoming one of the very common devices they own. We are giving an exposure in installation of different operating systems, familiarization of old and new hardware components like motherboards, add on cards, SMPS etc.

Networking lab is equipped with different types of Switches, bridges, NICs, etc. The configurations of all these components are demonstrated in detail. Network programming using Java is performed as part of the curriculum. Experiments are designed with a special care so that all the topics under the syllabus will be covered within 3 months time.
