We use mainly the Linguaphone Language learning systems in the lab. Linguaphone is the internationally recognised expert in self-study language courses .In a Linguaphone - 21 (English course) kit we have the course material in the form of printed books and audio cassettes/cds. The course begins at a preliminary level, then extends to secondary level .A learner goes through the printed material and then listens to the audio.
When a class is allotted to the Lab by time-table, the procedure we generally follow is this: - A common lesson is chosen; the cassette/CD listened to, to re-runs given if needed. Then students form groups, and discuss what they have heard. They create similar situations and similar conversational pieces. They listen to one another speaking and correct themselves. The whole procedure in moderated by an English teacher.
The lab being an extra facility provided for our students it is made use of before and after regular working hours. Students are free to walk in and master communicative English in a leisurely manner, on their own.We think that it is proper to introduce our students to the American version of English language so we have a computer aided inter active language learning programme too at the lab.A language centre which uses Linguaphone Audio active International languages programme to learn French, German, Japanese, and Arabic in an easy, natural and pleasant way is also provided at our language lab.

The voice heard is that of trained native speakers, in this case, British The pronunciation model can be called that of the professional news casters and announcers of BBC, a pronunciation which is universality intelligible .The learners slowly acquires the language in a natural way, by listening, understanding and then speaking. We can have a common lesson anytime for a full house lab. A cassette/cd is played in the central cassette-deck/cd player, which can be listened to by all the learners in all the thirty-six cubicles using head-phones.

If anyone decides to do a different lesson he can choose the appropriate course book and run the cassette in the walkman provided in every kit. For this 3 volt power supply is provided in every cubicle.
