The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SJCET, Palai has a main objective to empower aspirants with the right knowledge and specialized skill set in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering so as to impart in them an urge for lifelong learning with involvement. The department, under the guidance of Prof. Madhukumar S., Professor and Head, and with a fine blend of renowned as well as young and dynamic personalities as faculty, has always followed many innovative practices for the holistic development of the students.

The department was incepted in the year 2002 and the very first batch student brought university second rank to the college. The department was the first to organize National Seminar, National Symposia, National Conference and Short Term Training Program for the faculty in the history of the college.

In the present scenario of engineering education, the Electronics & Communication Branch has the highest rating. Keeping that in mind and also as an appreciation of the efficient functioning of the department, AICTE has allotted an extra 60 seats, which makes the department intake to 120 seats.
