ISTE STUDENTS CHAPTER: KE 21

Since the formation of the ISTE Students Chapter in July 2003, the Chapter has been organizing many activities under the ISTE Banner for the benefit of the members. 

The ISTE students' chapter of SJCET, Palai was inaugurated by Dr. D. Balakrishnan (Chairman, ISTE Kerala section) in 2004. Right from its inception, the chapter focused on:
 

  • Providing training to the students to become "Master Students".
  • Encouraging innovation and excellence in students through various means.
  • Publishing half-yearly newsletter to all its members.
  • Promoting better career development opportunities and services for students.
  • Arranging expert lectures.
  • Extending full support for all the national seminars and technical events in the college.
  • Enhancing the self-confidence and self-esteem of students.
  • Conducting various competitions within the college to enhance the competency and presentation skills of students.


SJCET, Palai was selected as the best chapter in 2004. Ms. Ponnu Jacob, Mr. Abish Mohan, Mr. Robin Jome  and Mr. Jobin Daniel John won the ISTE best student awards in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010 respectively. The ISTE Student Chapter was selected as the 'Best Student Chapter with Maximum Variety of Programmes' in the year 2010.  The whole team is guided by the slogans "Excellence is our obsession" and "Synergy at work".

ISTE staff chapter :


The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a National, Professional, Non - Profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. It has 70058 members among technical teachers and more than one and a half lakh student members in the country.ISTE @ SJCET has 170 institutional members.

The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations.

Being the only national organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology, ISTE effectively contributes in various missions of the Union Government. The ministry of Human Resource Development (Govt. of India), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Science & Technology (DST) and State Governments are well-associated with the ISTE for programmes related to technical education.

A few objectives of ISTE are

a)
to adjust curriculum and educational processes to changing conditions
b) to cultivate fraternal spirit amongst teachers, administrators, industrialists and professionals
c) to develop effective teachers and educational administrators and
d) to enhance professional ideals & standards.
