DESIGN AND INNOVATION CLUB - PROPELLING IMAGINATIONS

The importance of designing new systems and implementing them can be realized from the recent trends in technology, which has in fact revolutionized the course of human life. This habit has to be brought up in the students when they are studying the concepts, when their brains are young and fresh. This shows the importance of Design and Innovation Club in the campus.

The Engineering course develops engineers, who build the world. Education is the pursuit of truth, the hidden truth. To get to the truth first we have to imagine. Here the design and innovation club plays its role. Students are motivated to think, to imagine what ever they like and are provided with facilities to transform their imaginations into reality.

Engineering is not just regarding the study of existing systems and techniques. It is aimed at developing engineers to develop engineering. So both are benefited. The engineer is supposed to use his knowledge to design new systems and to modify the existing ones for the welfare of mankind. Welfare of the mankind is the aim of engineering; at the same time an engineer should give prime importance to safety and the environment.

To provide all sorts of technical assistance and support service to students for developing new concepts and products and thereby ensure that innovation is a part of quality education.

Engineering education lacks practical orientation because of the absence of opportunities to develop new products during the course. If this can be solved in the campus itself, the transformation of a student into a professional will be explosive.

The Design and Innovation Club of St.Joseph's College of Engineering and Technology, Palai was inaugurated by Dr.N.Ramaswami, former Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay on 10th October 2003.

The club is well aware of its role in bringing out efficient and dynamic engineering professionals. It is regularly conducting meetings to assess the progress. We are going ahead keeping in mind the fact that Design and Innovation Club is the most important club as far as the academic excellence and professional approach of a student is concerned.

The Club is grateful to the Management, Project Director Dr. P J George, Principal Dr. C J Joseph and all the staff members and students who have always supported and guided it in all respects. It also expects the sincere co-operation and valuable suggestions from all so that the Design and Innovation Club can add to the difference of SJCET.
