Electrical Consultancy Division of Electrical & Electronics Department

The academic and electrical inspectorate experience of the HoD of EEE department prompted to setup an electrical consultancy division for the benefit of the college in general and in particular to the students and faculty members of EEE department. The electrical consultancy division undertakes all electrical engineering field studies, planning, design, supervision (execution), testing and documentation of electrifications at:

1. All types of industries availing supply at medium, high and extra high voltages.
2. Hospitals, Medical colleges etc.
3. High-rise Buildings, Commercial Complexes, Multi-storied Residential Buildings etc.
4. Churches and other Special Buildings.
5. Colleges and other Educational Institutions.

The consultancy division has the expertise in:

1. System studies, field measurements and fault level calculation.
2. Load survey, analysis and load forecast.
3. Electrical system design.
4. Earthing and Earth-mat design.
5. Rising main and bus bar trunking design.
6. Preparation of tender documents and their evaluation.
7. Preparation of CAD drawings.
8. Supervision of installation works and testing of installation and relays.
9. Energy Audit of various types of electrical installations.
10. Design of lightning protection/shielding and surge diverters.

In the past the Consultancy Division of the EEE department undertook the electrical consultancy of:

3. St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Vadavathoor.
4. Indiawood Ltd., Rubber Board, Manganam.
5. Nadukkara Agro-Processing Company, Nadukkara.
6. St. Thomas College, Pala.
7. Sulabha Marketing Complexes at Thellakom, Pala, Muvattupuzha etc.

The ongoing projects are:

1. Sulabha Highway Complex at Thodupuzha
2. Marry Queens Hospital, Kanjirappally.
3. LBS Headquarters bulding, Thiruvanathapuram.

The consultancy division has the following special testing and measuring instruments for field studies.

1. Fluke load cum harmonic analyser with four CTs for RYB&N.
2. Lux meter for illumination measurements.
3. Sound level measuring decibel meter.
4. Four terminal Earth Tester.
5. Insulation Tester.
