Fingerprint based door locking system

Engineering is not only a theoretical study but it is a implementation of all we study for creating something new and making things more easy and useful through practical study. It is an art which can be gained with systematic study, observation and practice. We prove our practical knowledge to increase the productivity or efficiency of the industry.

Security has become one of the main concerns of everyday life. Security is the condition of being protected from loss or danger. It is a rapidly growing industry. Security has become so vital that new branches of engineering called security engineering have come up.Here is an innovative project from a group of Applied Electronics & Engg students named finger print based door locking system.

This project gives you a fingerprint based door locking system with 8051 microcontroller. The SM630 fingerprint module is used for fingerprint matching. It can store a maximum of 768 fingerprints. The administrator can add/delete/search records from the PC through the VB application.  All the attendance details are stored over the PC.

Here we utilize fingerprint recognition technology to allow access to only whose fingerprints you choose. It contains all the necessary electronics to allow you to store, delete, and verify fingerprints with just the touch of a button. Stored fingerprints are retained even in the event of complete power failure or battery drain. These eliminates the need for keeping track of keys or remembering a combination password, or PIN. It can only be opened when an authorized user is present, since there are no keys or combinations to be copied or stolen, or locks that can be picked.

In this project the fingerprint module from Miaxis Biometrics is used. It can store up to 750 finger prints on its own memory. It can be controlled through  its serial port. The microcontroller AT89S52 interact with the module. You can Add a fingerprint, Delete a fingerprint and identify  the  fingerprint.

To add a fingerprint, just show the finger on the module and press the ADD key. Now the microcontroller will send the ADD command to the module and the module will add it into the memory. To delete/search the finger follow the same as above. For searching ,the result will be displayed too.
