Mechaura 2010 was the National level Technical Extravaganza organized by the department of Mechanical Engineering St. Josephs College of Engineering and Technology, Pala on 4th September 2010. The event had 5 technical competitions that tested various aspects of Mechanical Engineering. Mechaura 2010 is the only event in Kerala to host a Glider Design Competition. Junkyard Wars, Paper Presentation competition, Best Technical Engineer competition and Lathe Machining were also conducted.

Students from various Engineering colleges inside and outside kerala participated actively in all events. Nearly 75 participants from 20 Engineering colleges enthusiastically attended Mechaura 2010. The event was inaugurated by Mr.E.Baburaj Chief Engineer P.W.D roads and bridges. Msgr.Philip Njaralakkat, Dr.C.J.Joseph, Dr.P.J.George and delegates from college were present in the inauguration. Mechaura 2010 got concluded by the Best Manager technical event and Prof.E.V.S. Namboodiry H.O.D M.E awarded the prizes. Mechaura 2010 was a great success; the participation of students validates the statement

Fourth National Level Technical Symposium, Mechaura-09 was organized on March 28th, 2009. The events included Technical Paper Presentation, Mechanical assembling and Best Engineer Competition. 7 technical papers were presented. The symposium was inaugurated by Mr.V.Vijayan Chief Engineer Travancore Cochin Chemicals.

Third National Level Technical Symposium, Mechaura-07 was organized on November 22nd and 23rd, 2007. The events included Technical Paper Presentation, Design Presentation, Product Integration and Best Manager Competition. 11 technical papers were presented.
|
The symposium was inaugurated by T.R.Hemalatha, Joint General Manager (Design), Hindustan Machine Tools, Kochi. She gave a talk on Electronics in Mechanical Engineering. The topics for discussion were smart materials, composites, Nano manufacturing, green design and cryogenics. The paper presentation session was chaired by Dr.M.Jose Prakash, TKM College of Engineering, Kollam. An exhibition of aurtomoile components was also organized.

National Level Technical Symposium Mechaura-06 on 1st and 2nd December 2006. A number of technical events were organized in connection with the symposium. The technical session was chaired by Dr.D.Subhakar of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), in which ten technical papers were presented. He also delivered a talk on Recent trends in Non-Conventional Energy Sources.
