Prof. E.V.S Namboodiry started his career in Indian Space Research Organization in the year 1968. He completed his B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering and M.Sc in Heat Power Engineering. He was Deputy Director /Chairman, Project management Board of cryogenics upper stage Project,LPSC,ISRO. He was with ISRO for 33 years. E.V.S. Namboodiry is one of the senior most rocket propulsion experts in India and he is the former chief of Launch Vehicle Propulsion Systems and chairman, Project Management Board of Cryogenic upper stage Project of ISRO. He played a major role in the development of solid , liquid and cryogenic propulsion systems for the launch vehicles, SLV, ASLV,PSLV and GSLV, which are large rockets developed by ISRO for launching India’s Satellites. He was also responsible to lead a team to develop and integrate the Apogee rocket motor for India’s first communication Satellite. . He got the rare opportunity to work directly under His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who is our former “Rashtrapathi”, for nine years in ISRO. When Dr. Kalam became Director DRDL of Defence department, E.V.S Namboodiry contributed towards the development of “Agni”, “Prithvi” and “Akash” missiles, as chairman/member of many technical committees for another nine years. He was Adjunct professor at IIT, Kharagpur and Honorary Visting Professor to Anna University, Madras and Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi. E.V.S Namboodiry joined SJCET in the year 2004 as Head of the Department and was promoted to Dean- Academic in 2011. He was Chairman of the Cryogenic Project Management Board, ISRO, till the date of superannuation from ISRO in November, 1999 and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department of Central Polytechnic College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State. He received an award (2004) for the best contribution in the field of Science and Technology in the National Level by the alumni of St.Thomas College, Palai for the period 1950 – 2004. E.V.S Namboodiry received Prof. M.C.Joshi Memorial prize for the best paper presented in the 17th National Symposium on cryogenics held at Nagpur in February 1999 . He secured First Rank for the Post graduate qualification in Space Engineering and Rocketry From Birla Institute of Technology , Ranchi. He has published an e-book, entitled “A mini-Encyclopedia on cryogenic engineering and its applications”. He had published 4 papers in Technical Journals and 9 papers presented in Technical Conferences. E.V.S Namboodiry has membership in Fellow of Aeronautical Society of India [ FAeSI ], Fellow of Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage [ FIISH] ,Member of Astronautical Society of India [ M.Astr.SI], Member of Society of R & D Managers of India [ M.S.R&D.M.I], Member of High Energy Material Society of India [ M.H.E.M.S.I], Member of Indian National Society for Aerospace & Related Mechanisms[ M.I.N.S.A.R.M], Member of Indian Society for Technical Education [ MISTE ].
