Women in Development Cell

Women historically have been under presented in scientific and technical fields. Women can only realize their true potential, if and only if they have easy access to education and play a full role in community’s decision making process. This is too true that” Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women”. Education solely can make anyone a better someone. When people realize this , and work for it, the world would be a better place for everyone.
To set the fire of ‘the desire to win’ in young women’s heart, SJCET formally inaugurated her Women in Development Cell, Eva Reyna in Nov 2005. With blessings of almighty and the auspicious presence of Miss Mary Metilda, Professor of Maharajas College, Ernakulam has begun its mission to promote and support the advancement of women in the professional field. It seeks to empower women as a decision maker, to achieve economic, social and gender justice, a healthy peaceful planet.
The cell plans to organize lectures and interactive sessions with experts in different fields, create awareness about all the important issues, hold group discussions on different relevant topics. The Womens cell also aims at introducing the history of successful women which will give a pride in our heritage .


To promote and support the advancement of women development by creating an environment for economic development. It seeks to empower women as a decision maker by building self confidence, encouraging and guiding the women to be independent, to think differently and to stand up for what they believe in. To achieve economic and gender justice for a healthy peaceful planet.


International Women’s Day is in short many things- It is a cause for celebration , a reason to pause and re evaluate , a rememberance, an inspiration ,a time to honour loved and admired ones.It is a day for reaffirming that we will do anything and everything possible to improve the quality of life of women.
Eva Reyna- 16 has celebrated in SJCET on March 10th 2016. The ceremony was inaugurated by Ms.Nisha Jeby ( News producer Manorama ). She addressed the gathering pleasantly with her presentation and urged the women of SJCET to take all privileges given to women as strength and to use them. Felicitation was given by Mrs.Toshma Biju Varghese (Mangalam Group). The cultural events included variety of entertainments which highlighted the role of women in the society as a mother, daughter, wife, friend and sister. The events related with the celebration were Best dress designing, Mehendi Designing, Fruit salad making, Glass painting and some fun based activities. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms.Chintu Ann Thomas ,Student Chairperson of WID followed by National anthem.
